Blogging Task 1

Instruction : Choose one of your favourite games and dissect the game according to its structural elements.

Peace upon you guys. For this task I want to write about one of my favourite games and its structural elements. Structural elements of games contain six things which is ruled-based, interaction, feedback driven, representation, goal-oriented and challenge. So, my favourite game was Plants vs Zombie.

Ruled-based :
  1. In Plants vs Zombies you control the plants, using them to defend your home.
  2. Each level you choose from a variety of seed packets which is you plant them to get your towers and if you plant the right ones in the right places you will have defense you need to protect your home from the invading zombies.
  3. You have a wide variety plants to fend them off with, and each zombie has a plant that is ideally suited to deal with them.
  4. Most of all, you need to place different types of plants and fungi, each with their own unique offensive or defensive capabilities around a house in order to stop a horde of zombies from eating the brains of the residents.
Interaction :
  1. The primary game mode is a single-player which mean "me vs the situation".
  2. Plants vs Zombie is a competition game which you need to fight with the zombie to achieve the goal.
Feedback-driven :
  1. The game features extra modes that are unlocked as the player progresses through the main adventure.
  2. these include a survival game with hard or normal mode, a puzzle mode, and a selection of mini-games.
Representation :
  1. Plants vs Zombie contains narrative and story elements.
  2. The game uses several different level types and layouts.
  3. the game starts out in a front yard, and progresses to nighttime levels.
  4. Sporadically through the game, the player is either warned through a letter by zombies or addressed by Crazy Dave to prepare for an ambush where the game takes on a bowling style, using Wall-nuts to bowl down zombies, or a modified version of regular levels, where random plant types come up on a small selection, and the player can use the plants without spending sun.
Goal-oriented :
  1. The goal is to destroy all the zombies before they reach your house and "eat your brains", and keep enough sunflowers alive to earn sunshine so you can gwor them fightin plants.
  2. Zombies stagger at you throughout the level, but are concentrated into 'waves', there may be one or two perlevel this is when everything gets that much more intense.
Challenge :
  1. Because you require sunshine from sunflowers in order to buy/grow any other type of plant, your first goal should be to have as many sunflowers as possible.
  2. Keep your sunflowers as close to the house as possible, zombies should have to traverse the entire lane before getting close to a sunflower.
  3. Plants vs Zombies uses a lane and grid system, and the Zombies stick to their lanes you can distract them while you acquire more sunshine to start fighting back.
  4. Using the walnuts to stall zombies at the top of the lanes also gives the offensive plants time to weaken and eventually destroy the zombies before they start lurching perilously close to your sunflowers and other plants.
